In Pursuit of State Pride

A 4th Grade Field Trip to Remember

3 sites. 31 standards. 200 years. $0 cost to your school!

You read that correctly! The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, and the
Indiana State Tour Office and Indiana State Library have exciting news. Leading up to Indiana's Bicentennial, we have a privately funded opportunity for all 4th grade public school students in Marion and Delaware counties. Beginning January 2014, your class is invited to visit all three sites in one day and achieve
31 unique state standards—FREE.
Tours and bus costs are fully underwritten until funding depletes.

Indiana's 200th is a monumental event! The three partners listed above have been working hard this year to secure funding for the benefit of Indiana 4th graders and their teachers leading up to our state's birthday in December 2016. Our project is titled In Pursuit of State Pride: A 4th Grade Field Trip to Remember. It is indeed a time to take stock of what makes our state and its people special. Historical literacy of hallmark sites and significant people in our state are vital to our collective appreciation, education, and development of our children—the state's future leaders. The Indianapolis Foundation, Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, and the Ball Brothers Foundation are generous funders to this important project.

This program will consume the majority of the school day as it is designed to give a comprehensive look at all three historical sites. Students will have a 45-minute tour at each site. The Indiana State Library has space available to schools for lunch. Tours are available by appointment. Because there is the matter of coordination of calendars for the respective sites—please provide three (3) available dates (in order of your preference) when contacting us. If you have any concerns about the length of time you can be away from school, let us know as adjustments can be made to accommodate your needs. I look forward to hearing from you and can be reached at 317-631-2717 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
